Through our acquisition of Grappell and Walker Radiology, we have not only increased accessibility of services for our patients but have also added two highly experienced radiologists to our staff. Drs. Grappell and Walker are well-established radiologists particularly in the field of women’s imaging. Click on the tab Our Physicians to learn more about their practice as well as the entire team of Medical Arts radiologists.
Medical Arts Radiology has recently implemented Infinitt’s PACS (Picture Archival and Communication System) enabling physicians remote access to their patients reports and images – anytime, anywhere. The Infinitt PACS uses a “thin client” server for quick transmission of diagnostic images throughout our network of six diagnostic imaging centers. Referring physicians can view their patients imaging studies with the same functionality as the radiologist performing and interpreting the exam. Our field application specialists are available to train you and your staff on the use of this exciting and innovative system.
MR enterography is an effective tool to evaluate and guide treatment of patients with small bowel diseases, particularly Crohn's Disease without exposing them to radiation.
Dynamic MRI of Prostate performed on our 3T magnet greatly improves the localization of prostate cancer.
Medical Arts Radiology was one of the first outpatient centers on Long Island to perform coronary CT angiography (CCTA). We now have years of experience in this technique, which is on its way to replacing invasive catheter angiography in many patients.

As part of our commitment to women's health, Medical Arts Radiology offers dedicated facilities for Women's Imaging in Bay Shore, Huntington, Patchogue, Plainview and West Islip. Understanding the anxieties that mammography and other tests can create, our facilities were developed in response to the unique health issues women face and are accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) . Services include state-of-the-art digital mammography with computer-assisted diagnosis (CAD), ultrasonography, breast MRI, minimally-invasive stereotactic, ultrasound and MRI guided breast biopsy, and DEXA bone density testing.
Breast MRI has emerged as an extremely helpful imaging tool in evaluating mammogram abnormalities and identifying early breast cancer, especially in women at high risk. MRI does not replace screening mammography. Instead it provides a powerful supplementary tool for detecting and staging breast cancer.
Medical Arts Radiology has been at the forefront of breast MR imaging and interventional procedures. Our integrated team of fellowship-trained physicians correlates the patient's breast MR images with other studies including ultrasound and mammography to provide the most accurate diagnoses. Since MR detects some abnormalities that cannot be seen on ultrasound or mammography, it is critical to localize or biopsy these lesions using that same technique. Medical Arts is one of the few places on Long Island where physicians are experienced with MR guided interventions, including wire-localization and minimally invasive vacuum-assisted MR-guided biopsy.
